Opening A Business

Opening a Business

Here's a trap that most business owners fall into. They fall in love with their product. In other words, they spend huge amounts of time and effort creating a product, which they believe is an absolute winner but unfortunately, give very little thought as to who their customer is or how they will market it. This is why many businesses just trickle along with very little growth in their profits.

So what is the best thing to do before opening a business?

First, go and find out exactly what it is that people are hungry for. I mean EXACTLY! What pain and frustrations are they experiencing? What solutions could you provide
to remove their pain and frustrations?

Once you have identified these things, all you do is simply go out and find or create what the market is crying out for. The marketing, then, is basically holding up your product and announcing:

"Here's that thing you wanted",

or

"Here's the solution to your frustration and pain".

You will then almost certainly have a stampede of new customers beating a path to your door.

You will do a lot better solving problems rather than preventing them. Think about this. People are more interested in how to lose weight than how to prevent the fat piling on in the first place.

It's easier to sell a book on 'how to get out of debt' than a book on 'how to prevent getting into debt'.

It's easier to sell a car or home alarm AFTER they've been robbed than before the event. The person feels vulnerable and wants the problem solved by buying the best alarm available. They will have a different attitude to the person who has never been robbed.

Trying to sell this person an alarm will be far more difficult because they simply don't see any need for it.

Make a plan!
